The Critter Depot Experience | Feeder Review

The Critter Depot has a very easy website to navigate through with photos and descriptions of their available feeders: Crickets, Superworms, and Black Soldier Fly Larvae. You are able to select the count and size of each feeder easily and add them to your cart.

Once you have selected your feeders, proceed to the icon that reads

“View cart” and click

This takes you to your subtotal and you are then prompted to check out and provide your contact, shipping, and billing information. With a click of a button, your order is processed, and you simply wait for your order(s) to arrive. Easy!

You can also find Critter Depot on Facebook at Tasty Crickets where they share helpful tips on how to keep your feeders alive and healthy, share articles about different reptile species, and stay in contact with their customers. You should also check out their shipping schedule which is available on their Shipping FAQ’s page.

The Critter Depot Feeder Experience

Upon arrival, my order of 500 superworms and 500 crickets were all contained within their shipping boxes. These boxes were feeder appropriate with mesh panels on the sides to allow proper ventilation. Each box was marked with the number of feeders and which types they were, as seen in these photos.

Checking the corners of your feeder box for any strays

As expected, the feeders arrived alive and alert. They were shipped with small potato halves and egg crates, which is always a good sign to me.

There were no deceased feeders, which is  quite impressive, especially in  Southern California heat.

  • Helpful tip- You’ll want to make sure to have a large plastic storage bin to open your feeders into because they are loose in the boxes, and will either jump, or crawl out. (see Critter Depot Feeder video below)

*Also, make sure to check in every fold and corner of the box to ensure you get every feeder out of the packaging boxes.

Of course, to ensure your feeders remain alive, move them into appropriate containers and provide them with food and water.

From start to finish, purchasing feeders from The Critter Depot was a great experience. The feeders arrived promptly and in excellent condition. They were exactly as shown on their website, right down to the selected sizes. If you are looking for a great company to order your reptile feeders from, I absolutely recommend this one.
